Open Door Adventure is an Outdoor Pursuits & Activity Centre that offers 20 activities on site!
Established in 1992 by Dave Orange (former Royal Army Physical Training Corps), Dave still owns and manages the company today and this Centre is testament to his high standards and huge expertise.
We are DIFFERENT!
Our Multi-Activity and Outdoor Pursuit Adventure Breaks are not only fun and invigorating but are designed around “YOU!” to enable “YOU”! to develop new skills and maybe even learn something that will be life-changing.
We offer Accommodation in our 10 bedroomed former mansion-house but also provide camping facilities with a state of the art “Bell Tent Village”.
We are pretty Unique also in that we are situated in a 25-acre site in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just 10 minutes from the A55 link road into North Wales; the location is a Triple SSI site (Site of Specific Scientific Interest) due to the 200ft limestone cliff face and 2 cave systems.

Our Activities & Courses – Dave Orange often says “It’s not just what we do, it’s the way that we do it”! And of course, he’s 100% right.
The activities and courses we offer are designed to meet:
– YOUR requirements
– YOUR aims
– YOUR objectives
In so doing, your experience will not only be fun, effective and rewarding, but memorable and beneficial to everyone who participates.
The staff at Open Door have been carefully selected, not only for their professional skills but for the people they are. And those people are friendly and committed to you having not only the best time but also being safe in the activities you choose to take part in.
Professionally trained with National Governing Body Qualifications in Outdoor Pursuits, they all have excellent experience and training in teaching, people skills and team-building. They are highly organised, very experienced and as importantly, have a natural enthusiasm which means they are very friendly and talk “with you” rather than “at you”.
We take great pride in providing clean and comfortable accommodation and services not to mention, good home cooking. Our Chef Alan has been with the business since it began and one of the things visitors always comment on is the quality of his cooking!
Our Wildlife – Be prepared to see kingfishers, herons, jays, pheasants, buzzards, peregrine falcons, not to mention badgers, otters, grey squirrels, wild Sitka deer and mink. And if you decide to pay a visit to our on-site cave, bats!

What Our Customers Said About Us
We have always been delighted with Open Door Adventure. Professional and responsive staff, a varied programme of challenging activities, tailored to our needs, and an amazing location all made our visits there a real pleasure and a valuable experience for our pupils.
Stunning setting and the staff can’t do enough for you.
Our daughter is only 5 and probably the youngest to ever canoe there. Danny the instructor made a big impression and we were astonished at how she forgot her prior concerns and enjoyed every second.
Deborah is probably the most accommodating person I have ever met and we can’t wait to hear more of Dave’s adventures.
We’ll be back.
Dear Dave, Many thanks again for such an awesome week-end- we had the wedding on Saturday(everything went superbly well) but all anyone wanted to talk about was the now legendry Stag-Do! The outstanding feature for me was the wonderful service we received from you and your team – we all felt so welcome and at home within minutes of arriving – that made such a huge contribution to the instant “gelling” of the group and really was the catalyst for a great weekend. Anyway – as I said – many many many thanks from all of us who attended the do. It was a truly memorable and thoroughly enjoyable week – end. On behalf of the whole gang, our very best wishes for the future Bobby White -Adams.
Hi David, Rory, Trev, Al and Cheryl We just wanted to say a great big thank you to all of you guys for making our weekend with you so enjoyable. We all took a great deal from it and had a truly brilliant time. You all made us feel really welcome and we loved the whole experience from start to finish, it’s just a shame it was over so quickly. Everything was so well organised and great fun, right through from the ice-breakers to the cooking to the activities themselves. We’ve come away with some great memories as well as a few bruises, but it was well worth it and we’ll definitely be back again, so prepare yourselves!! Thanks again Matt, Clare, Andrew and Bessie
I left open door feeling as proud of the group as they were of themselves, This week has been a very positive effect on all and I can say that I feel truly privileged that I am able to be associated with such a professional and experienced trainer as yourself, (Dave Orange) you really do inspire and motivate people, and I cannot wait to return for our next course in two months time. As you know I have used your services on a number of occasions and can honestly say that I have never had any reason for complaint. Open door is an excellent organisation who offers an equally excellent service. Thank You.
Dear All at Open Door Thanks for doing such a great job in organising the Stag-do for us. The service you offered was fantastic and centred on making our weekend as memorable and as fun as possible Thanks again for the Open Door experience – we’ll definitely be back! Dave (Bristol)
Dear All at Open Door Training The Team would like to thank you for a fantastic “Team Building Programme” White Water Rafting was out of this world and certainly an exhilarating experience that we shall never forget. We found the activities extremely worthwhile. They encouraged & strengthened a team spirit which will be vital for all of us in the upcoming weeks. Kindest regards & best wishes for 2013 Scott Harper General Manager
It’s crazy. I wake up expecting to hear the hounds and come down for breakfast! I miss everything so much. Staying with you made me realise that amidst all the hurt and horror in the world there are places where the world doesn’t seem like such a bad place after all. You’re kind and accepting attitude means that people feel at ease to be themselves and just get on as people should! A place where no matter who you are or where you come from everyone is equal and everyone gives everyone a chance. Sitting on the bench outside at night was so peaceful and everyone felt at ease. At ease to speak their mind, so rare these days, anyway I just wanted you to know how wonderful it was to stay with you. Knowing that a place like that exists makes me feel so much better Best Wishes Hannah (Reading)
We have found the centre we have been looking for at Open Door. Your course delivery is of a very high standard and you are flexible to the client’s needs and wishes, this contributed greatly to our Team Development and enjoyment of the programme you designed for our managers
Just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you, your team from the Universities and the instructors at Open Door Adventure, St Asaph, Wales for giving us the opportunity to take part in the team building day on Tuesday 9th April 2014. Our New Horizons team of 21 staff (the whole team in fact) attended the day and I can honestly say that on a personal level it was without doubt the best “work based” activity I have ever experienced and the feedback I have had from the team has been unanimously positive. It was well organised, extremely well delivered and despite some of us getting very wet/cold just a great all round experience,. Once again, many thanks Regards Joe Joe Linnane
We all had a fab week- discovered new strengths & weaknesses and boy, did we laugh! Great company great scenery, great place, activities brilliant. Thanks to all staff who made us feel at home and welcome
We can 100% recommend this holiday. We had a short break with lots of activities. Both of our kids enjoyed everything and as a family, we did things that we never thought possible. We were Team Barton for the stay, getting on, having fun and most importantly working together to ensure we were all safe. The instructors were knowledgable, calm and most of all fun to spend time with. The food was fab, so nice not to cook during our stay. I can’t sing everyones praises enough ! We loved every moment and will treasure all the wonderful memories. Needless to say, we’ll be back 😊
